2012:

Škoda Auto will present a new corporate design at the forthcoming Geneva Motorshow. With strong growth over the last 20 years and the best–ever sales result achieved in 2010, the Czech car manufacturer has set new ambitious goals to at least double its sales by 2018. Furthermore, the brand is set to present a concept car at the Geneva Motorshow which reflects Škoda's new design language.

The car is a nod towards the design language of future products, featuring clearly defined shapes and a new logo which will adorn new Škoda’s models from 2012.

The traditional winged-arrow logo features a new spectrum of colours to look even more distinct and precise than ever before. The new corporate design will be adopted across all Škoda's communications, as well as dealers. To this end, the design and layout of showrooms are going to be substantially modernised, too.

Would Škoda make a concept car just to highlight the new design? I don't think so. Will this be the new, cheap car positioned between Fabia and Octavia, or will this be the Octavia 3 itself?

17.02.2011.
I've just heard, that Octavia 3 has already been introduced to authorized dealers in Prague, Czech Republic.

The car will be displayed at 81st International MotorShow, Geneva (Switzerland) on 3-13 March, 2011. I hope I'll see, I plan to be there personally, for the first time. :-)

2010:

Maybe, the Octavia 2 will be on market for as long time as its predecessor, the Octavia Tour (Octavia 1)?

17.03.2010.
Today issue of hungarian weekly car magazine Autópiac brings the new Škoda Octavia on front cover! Inside a complete article can be found about the newest Octavia due to release in about 3 years, with rather exact technical details! The question on the front page: Will this really be the first Škoda equipped solely with turbocharged engines?

Wheelbase is increased by 40 mm, track gauge is increased by 60(!) mm. The daylight running light (mandatory from 2012 on all new cars sold in the EU) will be made of traditional bulbs, but the rear light cluster will be LED unit. While the press say, that the following Superb generation will be smaller than the current, because Superb 2 beats the Passat at all tests, making in-house competition at VW, the following Octavia will get all extra options available at VAG (from park assist to pre-safe, adaptive cruise control).

It's told that only turbocharged engines will be available, but no hybrid or electric version planned, just a low CO2 emission version (similar to current GreenLine). Engine start-stop and kynetic energy recovering brake systems will be the part of basic equipment. Entry level engine will be the 1.2 TSI gasoline unit, but only the strongest 77 kW (105 PS) version.

2009:

At this moment I have no any information about the next generation Octavia. I'm sure it's already on the drawing table. As soon as I find anything, I'll publish here. Škoda announced lately that a new image is needed for its models, so the Octavia 3 will be a completely different car than its predecessors.

Now, one day before the year 2010, I have read that launch of VW Golf VII is delayed, Golf VI will stay on market for longer time than VW planned. I've got a feeling: the Octavia 3 will come only after Golf VII.
